Below is all about the proposal! *cue heart pangs*
Gold Coast Australia, I took a photo of the sunrise on the 2nd April 2014, an unbelievable view from our hotel room. I stood there for a few moments taking it all in consumed by my all embracing seascape and completely unaware what destiny would follow that day.
It was your typical stunningly warm Gold Coast morning. After a delicious breaky, followed by a romantic walk along the beach, my then boyfriend Isaac and I headed back to our hotel to soak up some vitamin D poolside. We were situated in the grotto styled spa, surrounded by a tropic rock shelter and a few lizards running about (true-story). It was there Isaac began to take me back on a journey, where we reminisced how it all began and how far we have come. In the most perfect moment, Isaac lifted me out of the water and placed me ever so delicately on the spa’s edge. Down on one knee, half emerged in water, It was there he said it. There my world changed.
“I can’t do life without you, will you marry me?”
It took 10 minutes of crying to finally squeal “YES!”.
It wasn’t Isaac’s intension to propose right then and there. Isaac had planned a lavish affair for that evening, so fancy he even purchased a suit for the occasion. But by sheer serendipity, and as events turned out, most timely. He had a change of heart, in what I would describe as the most perfect moment. Isaac’s only accomplice was my father. Of course ensuring to ask him for his blessings for my hand in marriage. The most meaningful start to our path towards matrimony.
The ring you say? My magnificent diamond ring! Adorned shoulders tapering into a thick beautiful white gold band. Regal and structured in design and so perfectly me, I adore it!
The rest of our Australian holiday consisted of celebrations, gatherings and social events with family and friends. A whirlwind of emotion, way too many cocktails and moments of “Is this really happening?” concludes my engagement story.
Who would’ve guessed Id be returning back home to New Zealand as a ‘Bride to Be’.
Best trip, like, EVER!
