Experimenting with fashion during pregnancy is essential as your belly grows and takes shape. It may take some practice finding outfits that feel comfortable. I have very much enjoyed winter maternity fashion. Im loving the layering of warm knits, shift dresses and cosy jackets, all of which make ‘bump’ look insanely adorable! I am still fitting regular styles of clothing, just opting for larger sizes, a much cheaper alternative to buying clothing specifically made for pregnant woman. When shopping, consider purchasing items that will transition back into your regular wardrobe nicely and also tailor to your post-baby body. I invested in some relatively affordable pieces from the likes of ASOS, Glassons & Portmans that I could chop and change with clothing I already own and still fit. Heavy swelling hit me at the end of my second trimester so I have also invested in new flats and wide-fit heels to accommodate burgeoning cankles, joy!
Being pregnant is tough, and I have finally figured out that those who make pregnancy seem a breeze are not from earth. I have also figured out that some days are great, while others maybe grey, its all part of the journey! I am so appreciative of friends and family in awe of how I am managing to stay stylish and keep up with my beauty regimen. It takes a lot of effort, most days I prefer to seek solace in hubby’s sweats. My husband has been so supportive of the temporary yet ‘new’ body I have, I think secretly wishing that some of these new curves are permanently fixed.
This day, after a challenging week, I was yearning for a bit of glam! Determined not to let nine months feel like a total body-highjacking, I slipped into this gracefully tapered ponte dress in my favourite print and off to the marina I headed. Dressing down this impressive number I called on a quilted leather jacket, modest pumps and completed the ensemble with understated everyday accessories.
I am so grateful for the wonderful journey that is life, I am even more grateful for the people I meet on my path. Thank you Catherine from Ruthless Photographic for collaborating with me on this post!
