My first beauty review for 2018!

Its a goodie but first mummies, it’s important you all know my reviews are for you! For the full-fledged thirtysomething, with baby-in-tow. I got you! Together let’s battle the hormones, disinvite dullness and discolouration to our lives (and faces), fight the collagen and elastin production drop-off while also accepting real-beauty that comes with the ageing process. If there’s a product, I will try it, a superfood I will eat it and I’m not just limiting myself to makeup, tonics and vitamins, who knows whats install for The Leo Style to try! Stay tuned!

As a former professional makeup artist of 13 years, mature-makeup (30+) was always my favourite style of make-over to perform, I knew as I aged this would be a valuable skill to have. The trick to mature age makeup is quite simple, less is more. You may be surprised to know that a mature clients makeup would take me 25 minutes, however, a younger face would take me an hour. I’ve also seen how heavy makeup can age one, thus it’s important to stay away from cakey makeup that will further emphasise problematic areas such as fine lines and wrinkles.

My favourite foundation of all time is Estee Lauder’s Double Wear. A long-lasting full-coverage foundation that in just one coat provides an even and flawless coverage. As I have gotten older I’ve adjusted my application of Double Wear to suit my skin’s current condition. I gently dilute the foundation with an illuminating moisturiser to achieve a lighter look, more complimenting to my skin and it’s current texture. When I heard there was a new weightless formula that like the traditional formula provided 24-hour wear was joining the Estee Lauder Double Wear family I kid you not, I squealed.

Enter the Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup, the SunSmart sister ( SPF 25 ) to the Double Wear classic. Wearing this foundation feels as though you have nothing on, it’s incredibly breathable and silky. I apply it lightly for a real-skin finish or with a slightly denser application I can create a flawless base for a more glam occasion. I now find myself reaching daily for Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup, and in addition to all the above benefits that have stolen my heart, its the only foundation I have EVER tried that doesn’t melt off my skin in summer.

So my review, want a no-makeup-makeup-look while providing defence against UV rays and environmental damage? Silly question, amirite? How about a reliable easy to use daily foundation? A foundation that will even out skin tone but not be too cakey? Then this is the foundation of 2018 you need to try! Suitable for dry through to a combination skin type. The very oily among us (that’s me!) may require a trusty setting powder.

Available at selected Department Stores, Life Pharmacies and Farmers, as well as online at smithandcaugheys.co.nz, farmers.co.nz and lifepharmacy.co.nz.

Until next!

See you, love you, BYE!

OH I so wanted to love this foundation but I found it melted on me and definitely did not last like I expected it to. It looks amazing on you though! Would love to know what you used in this post with this foundation 🙂
