New to the blog, TEN THINGS! So? What kinda things?
My thoughts, feelings, experiences, recommendations, happenings, tips….THINGS! All things and anything! This new section on the blog is more about visuals and a chunk of concise, yet random light reading. Why? Because sometimes we just wanna see the highlights, amirite? To celebrate the new segment on the blog, Andrea Biani Shop and I are hosting a giveaway, you’ll find out where to enter at the bottom of this post.
Now to my very first TEN THINGS! Eep, little proud here guys!
By now you all know I surprised Isaac with a secret getaway for his birthday. Man, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done! Usually, when we travel we discuss entertainment and plan out our itinerary together. Individually, I organise packing and our wardrobe, Isaac organises flights, insurance and accommodation. Isaac is super meticulous and the biggest foodie I know, the itinerary alone took me an entire month. As well as organising everything on my own I paid everything in cash, being extra careful to avoid any electronic trails. I had never organised travel insurance before and on the norm its a huge priority for my husband. Not having a clue on how to do this I contacted Worldcare who introduced me to their GoComprehensive policy. It’s almost laughable how easy Worldcare made this experience for me, they needed only a few minor details, several questions answered and voila! Easy as that. Worldcare travel insurance policies start from as little as $12, it would be a little silly not considering insurance with fee’s as low as that! Naturally, I asked the team at Worldcare if they were interested in helping out some of you! So if you are travelling in the near future, Get 10% off any Worldcare policy when using the promo code THELEOSTYLE10, you’re welcome!
While brunch is said to have been invented in England, Australians will argue its Australian! Brunch is the most popular meal of the day in Australia, particularly when eating out. Annoyingly, 99.95% of Sydney cafes and restaurants do not take bookings, so TIP, the early bird gets the worm, go to your breaky spot at open-of-trade for the best seat in the house. Beach view or next to the restrooms? You decide!
Probably the most famous cafe on this side of the world, The Grounds in Alexandria is the most picturesque Instagram-worthy place to eat, EVER! Is it an eatery? Bar? Cafe? Restaurant? Garden? Bakery? Farm or florist? Its all of the above! It was our first stop on our travel itinerary and let me tell ya, if you are looking for an Instagram-worthy photo, look no further. A must on the Sydney bucket-list, food is great and the coffee is superb.
WHAT I’M WEARING
So lucky to be gifted the perfect cross-body made by Mooi, super functional and stylish. When on holiday I always take one universal hand-bag that will go with all my outfits. Mooi was created with the goal of introducing the rest of the world to the stunning leather craftsmanship and unique materials used in traditional African craft while creating and sustaining artisan jobs, philanthropy at its finest!
If you didn’t know I was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. My husband was born in Australia and left when he was 6. So strange to think that at one point in time, Isaac and I would have been children living in Sydney, at the same time, 30 minutes away from each other. He spent his weekends as a child at the same beach I did! Our paths would eventually cross again in Auckland and well, the rest is a love-story.
Eclectic, unpretentious with street art for days, Newtown is the jam! Took the hubs on a beer tour at Sydney’s best and most in-demand craft beer brewery, Young Henrys also located in Newtown. Extra wifey points earned here!
WHAT I’M WEARING
Ya homegirl took hubby back to the hood. The southern suburb of Rockdale, my hometown, where one of my favourite Lebanese dishes manoushe is freshly baked and served. There are a couple of places in Sydney that make a good manoushe but none quite like Cedars Pizza and Bakery.
When in Sydney a beach-hop is a non-negotiable. Bondi beach, crowded yes, but its totally iconic, budgie-smugglers and all. Were you even in Sydney if you didn’t get a photo in Bondi? I think, naah. Manly beach is another beautiful option, and sunset at Coogee, heart pangs! 3 must-see beaches you don’t want to leave off the itinerary.
WHAT I’M WEARING
Lavender Bay, absolutely precious! Our friends took us there before a visit to Luna Park. I can’t believe after spending 10 years of my life in Sydney I have never known about this spot. There is a gorgeous area there known as Wendy’s Secret Garden. The garden built around the bay is said to be built by a woman named Wendy, who sadly lost her husband. In her grief and despair, she transformed a once disused, derelict train yard space into this very majestic hidden garden. All the feels! We forgot to snap some pictures in the garden, so you’re gonna have to book those tickets to Sydney to see it!

One of the best cafe’s I visited while holidaying in Sydney was Flower Child. It was like eating inside an actual greenhouse. The food was seriously Instagramble and bursting with flavour. May or may not have gone back for a second round. All the Australian bloggers have mentioned how amazing it was, I can confirm, they were-NOT lying!
