TIROHANA ESTATE – FATHERS DAY

 

I am married to a man everyone loves. Yes, he’s more popular than I, dang-it!

He is there for everyone, family, friends and without fail, he is always there for us. He is the most optimistic, positive person I have ever met, who has never spoken ill of anyone, even when they deserved it! Rarely does a day pass without someone singing his praises. Does it get annoying that at times in this marriage it feels like he’s the MVP? Ummmm yes! LOL! However, for the most part, I am incredibly grateful to have him role-model the above to our children. He is more than a father, more than a daddy, he is an incredible guide for our boys.

Additionally, Isaac is also the BIGGEST foodie I know and loves, repeat with more oompf, LOOOOVES his wine! So this Fathers Day we treated him to a special ‘Fathers Day Roast’ at Tirohana Estate.

 

 

Tirohana Estate Restaurant is an eclectic, warm and extremely-satisfying dining experience. While this was my first time here its’s actually Isaac’s third, quite the creature of habit I knew he’d be wrapped to visit again. It certainly lived up to everything Isaac had raved about, there was no exaggeration on the emphasis of their impeccable service. What really warmed me about this place is the down-to-earth service from its people who go above and beyond. If you’ve been to Tirohana Estate, you’ll know Toby. A  ridiculously charismatic and amusing character who will make you feel like you’ve known him forever. He’ll have you entertained while staying attuned to your needs and even brush down the table-cloth between courses. We want to go back asap just to see him!

At Tirohana Estate one may enjoy a fine-dining five-course menu paired with award-winning wine, afternoon High-Tea, a winter roast, summer BBQ, Indian cuisine to Mexican! Of course made with local food, seasonal produce with an emphasis on free-range, organic and sustainable ingredients. There is always something different to experience so it’s worth calling ahead to see what delights they are brewing and/or events they have on. They also have a great Facebook with regular updates!

To Start – Goats Cheeses and Apple Croustade, with Beetroot Puree.

To Start – Smoked Salmon Tartare with Crostini and Lemon Puree.

Main Course – Twice Cooked Pork Belly with Apple Sauce and Wine Jus.

Main Course – Shank of Lamb with Wine Jus and Mint Sauce.

Main Course – Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding and all trimmings.

Dessert – Signature Spiced Pumpkin Bread and Butter Pudding, Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

Dessert – Traditional Treacle Tart with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

 

With bellies full, we enjoyed a little time outside, such a picturesque and ridiculously photogenic property. Surrounded by vines in the heart of Martinborough, we played, we danced and we loved!

 

 

Before we left Isaac was handed a Fathers Day gift from the team at Tirohana Estate, the cherry on top of a wonderful day spent as a family celebrating Dad. Such a memorable experience! And from the looks on the boys faces a day they won’t forget!

Thank you Daddy, for loving us the way you do. We celebrate you! All our love, forever and then some!
